Luxury watches have been here for a while now. With super expensive vintage timepieces still being collected as high value assets, it is no secret that people actually do prefer purchasing luxury watches till today. Even though it has been argued that investing thousands of dollars in a mere time piece is nothing but waste of money, we have listed down few visible differences between a super expensive EmporioArmani watch and an ordinary less than $100 watch:

Craftsmanship

·         Luxury watch: With a thousands of dollars worth price tag comes perfection in creation of these watches. Each time piece is individually handcrafted by an expert. These highly skilled artisans sew these watches into perfection. This is the reason that creation of luxury watch for men and women is very time consuming hence the high price tag.
·         Ordinary watch: These are massed produced into standardized units in factories. This is why the quality on them is not that great and they are more prone to damage than a luxury watch.

Purpose is the same, but how people perceive them is not

·         Luxury watch: Look upon by people as a piece of expensive jewelry and art. The purpose of showing time is rather looked upon as secondary.
·         Ordinary watch: Primarily bought for looking at the time only with little interest in the aesthetics and the jewelry aspect. Not intended for high value resale as well.

Investment value

·         Luxury watch:  Luxury watches are composed of valuable substances which retain value over time. As mentioned before, they are primary looked upon as expensive jewelry, just like, for example gold. Gold keeps getting expensive and remains a high value investment asset for many years. Similar is the case with these. Expensive watches are in high demand, especially those from many years ago. Vintage luxury watches are happily bought by collectors for thousands of dollars. Prestigious brand name plays a big role in the resale value of watches because it makes them more valuable in the eyes of the collectors.
·         Ordinary watch: These have little to no value in the long term and are in no way an asset intended for investment purposes. Thus, their investment value is little to nothing.

Display of wealth

·         Luxury watch: Wearing a luxury timepiece sometimes is for showing off purposes only but in a subtle manner. This is common within people especially those that belong to the high class community of any society. They feel necessary to wear such things to tell others that they are wealthy and a part of the high class community.
·         Ordinary watch: No such thing as display of wealth. However, watches like Casio are known to be an affordable brand for those looking for slightly better quality.
So here are some visible differences between an ordinary time piece and a high priced luxury watch. You have the freedom to decide for yourself if buying a luxury watch is justified or not. Some people argue that buying a super luxury watch is highly unnecessary. In fact, they say that all the money that could be used efficiently in contributing to a good cause like feeding the poor, is being invested in merely a timepiece. However, buyers say that this is what they like and what makes them happy. They also say that they buy them for their excellent quality and something that could be passed down the upcoming generations in the family.
