The worst part about moving overseas is when you have to
leave your beloved four-legged friend behind. There is always this conflicting
emotion where you know you have to go, but at the same time, you are letting a
member of your family down.
Though there are many ways now that do help you take your
beloved friend with you. The amount of work that goes into it, can get very
difficult.
But, when I sat and thought about it with a cold head, the
more I knew I could not move alone. I also started my research, just like you
are doing right now. I went through pet transportation services that claimed to help and also the different experiences of
other people who were in my position.
Let me tell you, the best feeling at the end of the long and
expensive (I have to be honest about the money spent here) is completely worth
it.
The process that I had to go through is broken down below
Get to Know the Laws
You have to get in touch with the country’s
consulate and get to know whether they allow the species of the cat or dog or
any other pet that you have in their country or not.
There are times when some species are
actually banned where you might be going.
Manage Your Living Situation
You have to figure out your housing
situation beforehand and find accommodations that allow pets in their space.
You also need to determine the vets there and
choose the one in advance to book when you get there.
Manage Your Planning Time
You really need to schedule everything and
stick to it.
There are a number of tasks that need to be
done according to the requirement of the new country’s law.
Such as getting vaccinations, check-ups,
blood tests, and many other such things. Your vet would be a great help in
determining how the move would impact the little fellow.
Manage the Flying Part
You need to make advanced booking through
all the flights for your pets and get to know all the rules beforehand, so that
later you don’t have any problems.
Make sure, your pet carrier for the flight is
secure and doesn’t give any trouble later.
Details!
Make sure you have gone through everything told to
you over and over again and never overlook any of the smallest details also.
